Friday, May 9, 2003, 2pm, Lothian, Maryland: Thomas V. Mike Miller, (D) Maryland Senate President, Michael E. Busch, (D) Maryland House Speaker, Bill Badger, President & CEO of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and Dennis Williams and Janet Beckner of the South County Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce were present for the ribbon cutting ceremony that marked the official opening of the area's newest resort to cater to pets.

Mike Miller and Michael Busch found themselves among cats and dogs instead of fighting for their platforms like "cats and dogs." They were treated to a full tour of the facility featuring the most-modern amenities available in the pet industry.

The Perfect Pet Resort combines all of the best features of pet resorts throughout the United States to create a customized retreat experience for dogs and cats. This modern, state-of-the-art 16,000 square foot, two-story facility is designed to exacting standards for a safe and unique environment. Its soothing music and aromatherapy promote calmness for pet guests. And, the luxury accommodations for both cats and dogs feature suites with television access.

There are four overnight accommodation areas for dogs with Classic, Deluxe, and Grand canine suites. The large training wing, a cat room, acupuncture and massage rooms, grooming and daycare areas, and outdoor play areas offer amenities to ensure pet health and comfort. The spacious outdoor play areas provide ample room for pets to run, jump, and enjoy their day.

The Perfect Pet Resort has its own outdoor exhibition field and indoor training wing. Both are available for rental year round for events, training and shows.

Owner, Elizabeth Chaney, says, "The Perfect Pet Resort combines all the best features of pet resorts throughout the United States to create a customized retreat experience for dogs and cats. It's not a kennel--it's more about a total experience." Ms. Chaney was pleased to have her grandmother, Agnes Dixon (98) of Galesville, cut the ribbon of her resort's opening while family and friends looked on.

Ms. Chaney was presented with certificates by Dennis Williams of the South County Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce and by Bill Badger of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation.

The facility is open Monday through Friday: 8am - 11am, 3pm - 6pm Saturday: 8am - 1pm Sunday: 3pm - 6pm. Tours of the Perfect Pet Resort are welcomed by appointment.
